Name lists

Names come from curated, themed lists that everyone shares: sharks, birds, constellations, dinosaurs, typefaces and more. Once you’re signed in, browse them to see every list and which names you’ve used.

Names are lowercase with hyphens between words (blue-shark), however they’re typed.

Choosing your list

On Account you choose:

• Which list your names come from.
• A random suffix, so names look like blue-shark-4821. Useful if you start a lot of projects and don’t want the list to run out.
• A longest name length, optionally. Names over it are either skipped or cut short.

How the next name is picked

Each time your assistant asks for a name, Nurseshark hands out the next one in your list alphabetically, skipping names your projects already use. It remembers your place in each list, so you work through it rather than seeing the same few names.

Asking for suggestions instead (suggest_names) gives several unused names at once, from any theme.
